Oftentimes, a Virtual CIO engagement starts with a specific IT project, like the consideration of replacing an existing software system (accounting, time- tracking, inventory management, etc.) with a different package. In this case, we advise senior management on the issues, and sometimes participate on the client's behalf during discussions with the vendor. Once a vendor is selected (assuming that it is determined that making a change is in the best interest of the business), DRI also participates in the management planning for implementation.

At other times, a Virtual CIO engagement begins when a client wants to address a specific need or management concern, which we might address starting with a staff analysis study.
