Log In to InformIT Backup Service
Client software talks to our servers to protect YOUR data

You should have already downloaded and installed the InformIT Backup Service client software on your local machine before you can follow the steps below to configure it. A link to download the client software was included in the "sign up" confirmation e-mail that you received. If you don't have the client software, you must first sign up for the service on our "sign up" page.

Once you have signed up for the service, you will receive an e-mail with a link to download the client software to your machine.


How to Log In to InformIT Backup Service on your local machine

InformIT Backup Service runs on your local computer, and you access it via your internet browser. Here's how...

  • Open your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.). This is the same software that you use to do Google searches, access eBay, Amazon, and other internet sites...

  • You can login to InformIT Backup Service by clicking the orange
    button in the upper right-hand corner of our website
    (Or type the address "http://localhost:6060" into the address line in your browser).



  • Log In to your local InformIT Backup Server software. Your LOGIN and PASSWORD are both set to the word "admin" (no quotes)...



  • Not able to log in? You may need to restart your InformIT Backup Service software on your local computer. Here's how to restart your local client....

    • WINDOWS: From your START MENU, show ALL PROGRAMS, and under the folder InformITBackupService, click the icon labelled "Start InformITBackupService....



    • MACINTOSH: Click HERE to download our "InformITBackupStart" utility for the Mac. (This file is compressed in ZIP format, so save this utility on your local machine and then run it. Your browser wil put this software in your "Downloads" area, so look for it there after you download it. You can also save it for later use, including designating it as a "startup item" on your Mac if you so desire)....

If this is your first time signing in to InformIT Backup Service, there's a couple of things that you'll have to do just this one time. So if this is your first time, proceed to our FIRST TIME SIGN IN page.
